Outline or solid: which stencil type to use

Outline finds the edges in the picture and turns them into lines. It works best for photos, shaded drawings and realism, where the stencil should show shapes rather than every tone.

Solid keeps the dark parts as filled black shapes. It suits line art, blackwork and designs that already have clean black lines. Raise Detail to keep lighter lines, lower it to keep only the strongest ones.

Print it at the right size

Enter the width you want on skin and choose Letter or A4. The PDF places the stencil at that exact size with a 50 mm and a 2 inch ruler; print at 100% (actual size) and measure the rulers before the final copy.

Large designs are split into overlapping sheets with corner marks, so you can line them up and tape them together.

• SVG outline: vector shapes you can scale and clean up
• PDF: real-size print with rulers, tiled when large

When to use AI clean lines

Busy photos with backgrounds, fur or soft light often give messy edges. AI clean lines redraws the subject as simple stencil linework first; then you adjust it here like any other image. It is the only paid step and needs an account.
