About this design
What the design shows
Two open pincers frame the top of this scorpion, their curved tips pointing inward across a clear central gap. Beneath them, angular legs extend from both sides of a narrow, segmented body. The drawing uses broad black shapes with thin white channels separating joints and stacked abdominal plates. The upper body has a paired curved marking, while the lower plates form a descending column with rounded corners. At the bottom, the tail bends down and then curls toward the right side of the image, ending in a raised hooked sting. Bright slits along the tail segments interrupt the otherwise solid black surface. There are no surrounding symbols or background shading. On skin, the scorpion occupies the central back of the hand, with claws toward the knuckles and the curved tail pointing toward the wrist.

Placement and size
The hand preview puts the claws just below the knuckles and the tail above the wrist, making the insect approximately thumb-length. Its upright body would also fit an outer forearm, calf or upper arm. The tail adds width on one side, so allow for that bend when centering the stencil. At smaller sizes, the slim channels between abdominal plates and the claw highlights need more room than the solid body itself.
Patchwork
Building it into a patchwork
Solid black plates give the scorpion a fairly heavy center while its legs produce a broken, irregular perimeter. Let it lead a small cluster of black flash, with lighter pieces beside the pincers rather than tucked among the legs. A narrow crescent or angular spark can occupy an outer gap. The empty opening above the head belongs to the claw silhouette; keep that area clear and leave breathing room beside the hooked tail.
Small pieces that pair with it
- An angular spark outside the right claw
- A narrow crescent below the tail bend
- A small outlined diamond beside the left legs
For your artist
Notes for your tattoo artist
- 01Discuss widening the pale channels between the body plates.
- 02Retain the rightward tail curl when positioning the stencil.
- 03Keep the claw highlights separate from the open gap between pincers.
