About this design

What the design shows

The tiger looks straight ahead with an open mouth and a nearly symmetrical face. Small pointed ears rise at the outer corners, their black upper sections interrupted by pale highlights. Curved solid stripes cross the forehead and descend along both cheeks, separated by wide unfilled bands. The eyes are round and outlined beneath angled brows, with small dark pupils. A broad nose sits over the split muzzle, and long whisker strokes extend sideways into the cheek fur. Two larger upper fangs bracket rows of smaller teeth around the open mouth. Soft grey shading darkens the nose, inner ears and mouth edges, while heavy black contours shape the jagged cheek and chin outline. The image uses black and grey rather than orange coloring. In the hand preview the head is small, centered below the knuckles, with the mouth toward the wrist.

Placement

Placement and size

The tiger sits on the central back of the hand and is approximately thumb-length from ear tips to chin. A broader upper arm, outer forearm or calf placement would provide more room for the teeth. The head is nearly as wide as it is tall, so avoid forcing it into a narrow strip. At small scale, the mouth interior and forehead stripe gaps need review together; the outer cheek shape alone will remain much easier to read.

Patchwork

Building it into a patchwork

Black stripes create a forceful center even at the small hand scale, but the open cheeks keep the head from becoming one solid mass. Put lighter flash beside it, such as a spare leaf or small outlined spark. The face works as a compact focal point within a traditional grouping. Allow a clear rim around the ear and whisker tips, and leave extra room below the jaw rather than inserting filler directly against the teeth.

Small pieces that pair with it

  • A short striped leaf beside an outer cheek
  • An outlined spark above one ear
  • A small black claw mark below the chin
