About this design
What the design shows
Two fine concentric outlines form the outer edge of this round medallion. Inside them, a broad open crescent occupies the left side, with tiny stippled areas near its upper and lower tips. A smaller crescent rests at the right edge beneath a curved dotted shape. Straight fine lines radiate across the upper-right interior, some interrupted into short dashes rather than continuing across the whole circle. Beyond the border, alternating pointed strokes and gently wavy rays extend mainly from the left side, with longer vertical rays above and below. The right side remains comparatively quiet. There are no broad black fills or colored sections; the effect comes from line spacing and small dotted accents. The wrist image places the circle below the inner wrist crease, with the longer lower ray pointing down the forearm, at about thumb length overall.

Placement and size
Just below the inner wrist, the round border occupies a small central area while the rays add height above and below. The outer forearm, ankle or upper arm could also hold this compact medallion. Its circle should stay round when viewed with the wrist relaxed. At a smaller size, the double border and tiny dotted arcs would lose separation before the main crescent does. Check the spacing of both crescent tips on a full-size print.
Patchwork
Building it into a patchwork
Open linework makes the eclipse light enough to sit between denser pieces. Its circular border offers a contained edge, but the uneven ray spread needs clear space on the left and at the vertical tips. A small angular star or narrow cloud line can relate to it from outside the circle. Avoid adding marks inside the medallion; the broad empty areas are part of the contrast between the two crescents and fine rays.
Small pieces that pair with it
- A tiny outlined star outside the quiet right edge
- A short cloud curve below the lower ray
- Two small dots beyond the leftmost wavy ray
For your artist
Notes for your tattoo artist
- 01Keep the double circular border visibly separated.
- 02Preserve the quiet right edge rather than adding a complete ring of rays.
- 03Discuss which dotted accents can remain distinct at wrist size.
