Blackwork Bear Calf Tattoo
A front-facing bear head and one pine sprig form a bold vertical calf composition.
Free · no sign-up · PNG
10 reviewed designs · 2 placements
Calf tattoos usually work best as vertical pieces around 4 to 8 inches tall, using the long muscle instead of fighting its curve. The back of the calf gives bold animals and botanical stems room to read from a distance, while the outer calf can hold a narrower design. Trousers cover the area easily, but shorts put it fully on show. Compare each clean design with its lower-leg preview, then leave enough open skin around the edges if this piece will become part of a patchwork leg.
Builder placements: Forearm, Lower leg. Every piece opens in Remix or enters the Builder as the matching reviewed asset.
Read the silhouette first, then check how the same lines sit on the suggested body area.

Placement decides scale. Pick the calf design whose silhouette matches the space you actually have, then leave enough skin around it for the next piece.
Measure the gap
Check the on-skin preview against your own calf: a design that fills the whole area leaves no room for a patchwork neighbour.
Match the direction
Vertical pieces follow the limb; round emblems sit on joints and centerlines. Rotate the design in the Builder until it reads naturally on the calf.
Keep negative space
Patchwork works because each piece stays separate. Keep at least a finger of clear skin between this design and the next one.
